Located in two former manufacturing plants in the Dixwell neighborhood of New Haven, Connecticut, NXTHVN's core aim was to build an alternative model of art mentorship and career advising and provide opportunities for emerging local entrepreneurs.
The facility includes professional artist studios, a maker space, co-working spaces, a “great hall” that can accommodate events and performances, a 3D printing fabrication lab, gallery, and a café. The luminous new addition houses studios as well as apartments for artists-in-residence.
Industrial lighting is applied throughout the space reminiscing the former factory and laboratory equipment. A state-of-the-art suspended track system with minimalistic aesthetics and easy adjustability illuminates the exhibition spaces with high visual comfort. Its interchangeable spherolit lens and various lumen package ensure flexibility for diverse activities and art displays in the double-height public spaces.
